July 21, 2021

Minneapolis, MN (July 21, 2021) – Zeus Electric Chassis, Inc. (“Zeus”), a fully configurable class 4-6 electric work truck solutions provider, is proud to announce they have received an order from the Pegasus Bus Company for four Zeus chassis, with the first delivery anticipated in the first quarter of 2022.

The initial chassis will be used for development of an electric bus prototype to be employed in customer demonstrations and trade shows, as well as Altoona durability testing. This initial cab-chassis delivery will have all-wheel drive, along with the Zeus conventional cab. Subsequent cab-chassis, (shown below), will include a new Zeus cab-forward design with the front-wheel drive option.

“We are excited to join with Pegasus to market a truly differentiated electric shuttle bus solution for the transportation industry,” said Bill Brandt, Zeus VP of Business Development and OEM Sales. “The initial order in the bus market represents another step forward in our strategy to address a broad range of specialized applications in the class 4-6 market. As we view our target markets, we see great opportunities in work trucks for a broad range of vocations, including electric stake trucks, electric dump trucks, electric bucket trucks and other specialized applications. Expanding into the shuttle bus market is a natural fit for our EV solution.”

Pegasus Bus Company is a start-up headquartered in Lima, OH and is managed by Brian Barrington, who has a long history in the transportation market, including nearly 30 years of industry experience with OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers, and aftermarket parts businesses. He also has an extensive nationwide dealership and service network in place and is already seeing tremendous interest in a Pegasus-Zeus solution.

“We are extremely excited to be able to offer the Zeus Electric Chassis as an initial chassis option for Pegasus Bus.”

Fleet customers are impressed with the overall robustness of the vehicle and 10+ year service life based on current specifications. Each customer will have the opportunity to review the total cost of ownership (TCO) model between the Pegasus-Zeus solution versus existing diesel platforms and other electric vehicle (EV) solutions, which are typically EV conversions from existing diesel platforms. The Pegasus-Zeus solution aims to be the market-leading platform for speed to market, safety, durability, comfort and overall TCO. The chassis suspension and overall passenger comfort are key features in this solution.

“We are extremely excited to be able to offer the Zeus Electric Chassis as an initial chassis option for Pegasus Bus,” said Barrington. “With the EV bus market growing, being able to offer a chassis that is purposely built to be electric along with the strength and durability of the Zeus chassis, we couldn’t be more excited, and look forward to building electric buses on the Zeus family of chassis for our dealers and customers.”
